Celeste (PICO-8) is the original freeware version of the critically acclaimed platformer, created as a mini-game in the PICO-8 fantasy console. This charming, challenging retro platformer was the prototype for the full commercial Celeste game and is included here in its original 8-bit form.
¶ 📥 Installation
Celeste (PICO-8) is included in the Windows Freeware menu and can be accessed from EmulationStation (ES). To install:
- Open Batocera Unofficial Add-Ons (BUA) from the Ports menu.
- Browse the available add-ons and locate Celeste.
- Select Install and wait for the installation to complete.
- Once installed, Celeste will appear in the Windows Freeware section of EmulationStation.

- Navigate to Windows in EmulationStation.
- Locate Celeste and launch it.
- Use your keyboard or gamepad to guide Madeline up the mountain in this tight, challenging platformer.
- Collect strawberries, conquer deadly spikes, and master pixel-perfect jumps.

- Controls: Supports keyboard and gamepad input.
- Graphics Settings: 8-bit retro visuals, no resolution scaling needed.
- Sound Options: Retro-style chiptune music and effects.
- Assist Mode: Not available in this version (available in full release only).
